WELLINGTON INVASION - NATIONAL SERIES ROUND 2

Welcome to the annual WELLINGTON INVASION event - the second round in the IHRA NZ National Drag Racing Series and the competition is heating up. Don't let the name fool you, while a strong contingency of racers from the capital and bottom of the North Island are set to invade NAPA Auto Parts Dragway, there will also be a healthy number crossing the strait from the Mainland to take the spoils. The Capital Invaders and their friends from the mainland took a loss last year, so they're out for vengeance. The ultimate outcome is a Saturday jam packed with the best from around the country, just waiting to stick one to the local 'JAFAs'. PLUS, the Summer Slammer Series hits the strip for the first round of their brand new series. It's going to be piping hot...so bring all the burns remedies.

Friday 16 January 2026:
4pm - 9pm: Gates open for racers and crew set up
6pm - 8pm: Race Entry open

Saturday 17 January 2026:
7am - Gates Open

Gate entry costs $30, kids 11years and under FREE.

Our all new Family Passes $90 (2 adults and 3 children 12 to 17 years because 11years and under are free) available at the gate

9am: Compulsory Drivers Briefing on the Start line
930am: Qualifying starts

Part of the National Drag Racing Championship Series, the Wellington Invasion is always a treat as racers from all across the country descend on NAPA Auto Parts Dragway in the jostle for points and position as we head into the second half of the National Drag Racing Championship Series. 

Race Entry costs: 
GROUP 1 = $205 ($180 with IHRA NZ membership)
GROUP 2 & SCO = $175 ($150 with IHRA NZ membership)
SUPER SEDAN & MODIFIED = $145 ($120 with IHRA NZ membership)
SUPER STREET, SCREAMIN' EAGLES & MODIFIED BIKE = $105 ($80 with IHRA NZ membership)
JUNIOR DRAGSTER & TEEN RACERS = $45 ($20 with IHRA NZ membership)

This meeting caters to all rule book classes as listed below: 
Junior Dragster – Super Street – Screamin’ Eagles – Modified Bike – Super Sedan – Modified – Competition Eliminator – Competition Bike – Supercharged Outlaw – Top Doorslammer – Top Alcohol.

Racers – please ensure you have your Civil Drivers Licence, current Log Book and current IHRA / NZDRA drag racing licence and IHRA NZ membership card (if applicable) with you when you come to race entry. 

GROUP 1 & GROUP 2 RACERS:Please ensure your vehicle has been weighed and that this weight is recorded in the relevant section of your log book before coming to Race Entry. 

Camping is available at track for racers and crew only.  Please camp in the allocated camping area. NO camping in the Pits. Visit our Accommodation page for full accommodation options including local motel/hotel options.
