2013 NZ NATIONALS
Final Round of IHRA National Track Series Continued

The 2013 NZ Nationals scheduled to run 15th to 17th March 2013 started with a great roar.  Friday’s non-compulsory qualifying was a relaxed affair followed by a great gathering of many of the heroes of Drag Racing from a bygone era at the Pukekohe Hot Rod Club rooms in celebration of the tracks 40th Anniversary.

When Saturday dawned, a host of Personal Bests and a handful of records fell.  Reece Fish entertained like no-one else can with a full set of candles from the 8,000 horsepower Fish Family Racing Top Fuel Dragster careering down the track in search of the elusive four second pass.  Round 1 of Eliminations racing followed a busy schedule of qualifying on Saturday and those who stayed into the afternoon and early evening were treated to some of the greatest racing we’ve seen on our home soil in the last few years. Sunday would dawn with a lot of the wet stuff falling out of the sky much as it did forty years earlier at the tracks opening event.  Which leaves us with the job of finding a Nationals champion come Sunday 21st April.  To that end, please see below for full details of the continued 2013 NZ Nationals.

Date: Sunday 21st April 2013
Gates Open: 8am / Track Opens: 930am
Gate Entry: $20 / Race Entry: $50

This event will incorporate the annual Sponsors and Crew Fun Day.

All Racers who entered and raced at the 2013 NZ Nationals will receive Gate Entry and Race Entry to this event free of charge.  A list of the Nationals Racers will be available at the front gate to gain access to the venue and all Racers will be required to sign in at Race Entry.

If you were eliminated in the first round of racing on Saturday 16th March, you can still race at the Fun Day free of charge.  However if you were not a racer at the Nationals and wish to participate in the Fun Day you will need to pay the gate and race entry fee as detailed above.

All Racers that are in the Nationals field for Round 2 of eliminations (those who survived round 1 from Saturday 16th March), will get at least one practice run in the morning – please pick up your Race Schedule from Race Entry so you’re aware of these practice times.  If you are still in the field for Round 2 but cannot return to race, please notify the office via email on framautolitedragway@xtra.co.nz  to advise out.

Due to the rain out and consequent loss of income, the Board has unfortunately decided to can the TV coverage and show however a DVD will be produced so you have a record of the event.  This also means there will be no prize money – just bragging rights.

Lastly and music to most of your ears, the Board is pleased to announce that all remaining funds will be directed toward the Track Reseal during May and June.  The Reseal project Stage 1 and Stage 2 will both be completed during this upcoming 2013 winter.  This includes flattening the track all the way to the finish line and through the braking area.  The resulting millings will be used to seal the internal pit lane roads.

For any further information please feel free to contact the office.
