The Spring season of racing has drawn to an end at Fram Autolite Dragway. From Fathers Day Drags back in September, to Drag 4 A Cure, two NAC Night Speed Drag Wars events, to Fram Competition Series , the Kawasaki Track Day, the NZPC Summer Tour Hard Pak and the IHRA Track Series Spring Nationals capped off the beginning of what is promising to be a great season of racing.
On 10th and 11th November, the first Test and Tune and Competition meeting of the season got under way. What is normally a quiet meeting was pleasantly disturbed by the sweet crude sound of Reece Fish’s Top Fuel Dragster taking its first dip in the water. With 60 foot times of 0.902, 0.903 and 0.933, we look forward to seeing Reece out in the Fueler again in the coming summer season. Words really can’t describe what it’s like to stand that close to the fire breathing beast as it launches down the track! -So here’s an amateur video of Reece’s second pass for your entertainment. Two weekends later, we were back at the track for the IHRA Track Series Spring Nationals. And it was the door car of Taylor and Taylor piloted by none other than veteran racer Ross Taylor that stole the show this weekend resetting the Top Doorslammer ET record to 6.413 backed up with a 6.436. Grant Rivers towed up from Wanganui and showed us some pretty spectacular Funny Car wheelstands before sending the crew home on the Saturday night after Test & Tune to collect the wheelie bars. Simon Fowke travelled all the way from Christchurch for his second blat of the season and it was great to see him and the team. Again, congratulations to all our racers of the Spring Nationals and their achievements; most of which I have no space to list individually here. The crew have two weeks off to recoup and recover before we kick off the summer with Mothers Dragmasters on Saturday 5th January 2013.
